Laurencia Strauss is a queer non-binary mixed Latinx and white settler artist from Miami who combines socially based art practices with sculpture, video, and landscape experiments. Their participatory projects, interventions, and community-based designs have been shared nationally and internationally as experiences of mutual vulnerability and care that challenge us to adapt towards a greater sense of interdependence, across personal and ecological realms.
Emphasizing social and environmental justice, their work attends to climate change grief as a catalyst. Strauss is an Artist in Residence with The Deering Estate and co-creating a climate resilience plan with the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida.
